Super Mario Bros. 2 - That Game Rules! Ep 014

Time to get weird, time to get crazy, you wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts. Let’s talk the crazy sequel/not-a-sequel that is Super Mario Bros. 2! Spoiler Alert! I love this freaking game. We’ve got a lot of history behind this game. We talk about the legacy of Super Mario Bros. 2 and the mechanics, enemies, themes and music that have stuck with the franchise for decades. Grab a turnip, hop on your magic carpet, and watch out for Phanto as we dig (get it) into this game! 
 
And we get stuck back in 1988. I love the 80s! We do a mini dive into the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, talk about the Ninja Turtles because I always want to, and I find another excuse to play some sweet Mega Man music.

The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap - That Game Rules! Ep 013

Finally, a Zelda episode! It may not be the Zelda game everyone has played, but it's definitely the game everyone should! I only played this game with the last few years, and I don't know how this one snuck by me. This game has a little bit of everything:

It's all there just waiting for you. Come join Zelda, Link, and Ezlo (Hey, it's not Navi at least) on a sweet GBA adventure!
 
We stop by 2004 and see what 20-year-old Scuba was up to. I blah, blah, blah about old technology of the early 2000s. We talk about adult vs kid cartoons, a certain pants wearing sponge, and I ask you all to go experience the cosmic terror that is The Polar Express.

Chip 'N Dale: Rescue Rangers - That Game Rules! Ep 012

Let’s get back to the NES this week and talk about a sweet Disney platformer. I grew up on all the Disney classics and when you’re a kid, you just wanna play a game with the cartoons you watched. This game delivered. Great sprites, smooth gameplay, and the amazing 8-bit tunes made this game a big seller and favorite rental. There’s no case too big, no case too small, let’s get to it! 
 
Somehow, we end up in 1990, and I ramble about cartoons and Beanie Babies. I also go on for way too long talking about ice cream trucks. Also, soooooo many games came out in 1990 I want to do episodes on. And we talk about saving the world, one piece of litter at a time. The power...is YOURS!

Mario Party - That Game Rules! Ep 010

Did humanity peak with the N64? Maybe... Well, today we talk Mario Party 1. Grab your joysticks (and Band-aids) because we’ve got mini games to crush and stars to steal! The word “party” in the title is appropriate, because we used to put in hours on this game back in the day. Nintendo does it again, creating a polished franchise that survives multiple systems and decades. Yeah, I’m gushing, listen in and find out why... 
 
Plus, we stop by 1999. Y2K!!! I talk about sweet Trapper Keepers, Furbys, Star Wars, Futurama, and finally figure out where I got my nickname from. While we're at it we talk real life board games, and I look through an old Sears Wish catalog. Also, where is the Dino Crisis remake?!?

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (Game Gear) - That Game Rules! Ep 009

Step 1: Take Sonic the Hedgehog 
Step 2: Put Sonic on Sega Game Gear 
Step 3: ??? 
Step 4: Profit! 
Sonic 2 was released on the Sega Game Gear as it should have been. A Sega handheld should have games featuring their best mascot. Unfortunately for Sonic, he just wants to go fast. But can you go fast when you can't see where you're going? Let's break this game down and see if we can find where Sega may have missed out on that important step 3. 
Plus, we stop by 1992. We talk about some sweet Nickelodeon shows from back in the day, those late-night HBO movies our parents didn't know we were watching, and I still ponder to myself... “What is inside of a Stretch Armstrong....?” 
It’s probably sand.

First you draw a circle, then you play this awesome game! Kirby debuted on the Gameboy, but it took the NES to put this pink puffball into the spotlight. It can be both a tough platformer and an easy fun time, while cranking out some great 8 bit music. Let’s talk Kirby’s Adventure today on That Game Rules! 
Plus, we stop by 1993, or the late 1900’s as it were. We talk about my love of crappy B horror movies, another Blockbuster story from my brain, and a shout out to the terrible Link CDi games. Plus, I attempt to get TWO nostalgic tunes stuck in your noggin.

Donkey Kong Country is a contender for a top 3 spot on almost every “Best of SNES” list. Featuring stunning 3D rendered graphics, atmospheric music, and captivating gameplay. Nintendo and Rare managed to turn an OG villain into an IP strong enough to lead the launch of their new system over 30 years later. Let’s talk Donkey, Diddy, Cranky and all our other favorite Kongs in a barrel blasting episode of That Game Rules!

TMNT3: Radical Rescue - That Game Rules! Ep 006

Forgiveness is divine, but never pay full price for late pizza! We’re talking TMNT 3: Radical Rescue for the Gameboy. Heroes in a half shell fighting in a mega man style metroidvania? Shut up and take my money! This game was near the end of the Gameboy lifecycle, and it shows in the best ways. Grab some ‘za and let’s look at this classic. Cowabunga dudes! 
Plus, we kick some shell all the way back to 1993 and talk turtlemania. I gush about the original TMNT movies, we look through an old Toys R Us toy catalog, and I reminisce about an old fever dream that is the TMNT musical stage show.
